Alet Smit Non-Principal Property Practitioner

She is a passionate and dedicated Property Practitioner with extensive experience across various sectors of the real estate industry. Her journey in property began in February 2009 when she joined Perfektum Homes in Secunda, Mpumalanga, where she received her training from the company’s owner. This followed a successful 10-year career running her own Civil Engineering Laboratory.

In 2012, she relocated to Howick and joined RE/MAX Midlands, where she gained valuable experience in the sale of businesses, farms, smallholdings, commercial properties, share block properties and sectional title properties. In 2017, she joined Pam Golding Properties, where she expanded her expertise through training in both residential and commercial rentals.

In 2018, she and her family relocated to the Lower South Coast, where she continued her career with Pam Golding Properties in Ramsgate. In 2021, she joined eXp South Africa, where she remained until 2026, when she and her family relocated to Gauteng to be closer to their children and extended family.

Prior to entering the real estate industry, she successfully owned and operated several businesses and was a member of the Women Business Chamber in Mpumalanga. Her entrepreneurial journey led to the incredible opportunity to participate in the Mrs South Africa 2006 pageant, where she was voted one of the regional finalists. The experience was both enriching and life-changing, teaching her valuable lessons about herself and encouraging her to embrace the God-given skills and talents she has been blessed with.

From an early age, she learned that effort leads to reward — a principle that has shaped her strong work ethic, integrity and resilience. She approaches every professional relationship with honesty, dedication and a genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for her clients.

She is a family-oriented person who treasures spending time with her husband, children and eight grandchildren, as well as their beloved four-legged family member, Basco. Her family is a source of great joy and gratitude, and she considers herself richly blessed.

In addition to her extensive business and property experience, she is also a trained nurse. Her background in healthcare, combined with years of running businesses in the service industry, has equipped her with valuable people skills, empathy, communication abilities, discipline and a strong understanding of client service — all qualities that have become invaluable in her real estate career.

Outside of real estate, she is a passionate chocolatier and baker who loves creating delicious treats for others to enjoy. Her experience of establishing a small chocolate bakery in the Midlands taught her some of life's most valuable lessons. Starting from scratch, she had to develop tremendous self-discipline, work long hours and often bake throughout the night before selling her creations during the day. With high rental costs and no funds to employ additional help, she relied entirely on herself.

This challenging experience taught her the importance of perseverance, self-belief and recognising her own abilities and talents. It also gave her the confidence, endurance and determination to continue moving forward, even during the most difficult seasons of life.

Today, she brings extensive experience in the sale of residential properties, businesses, farms, smallholdings, commercial properties, share block and sectional title properties. She has particularly strong experience in sectional title and served as both a trustee and Chairperson of the estate where she owned a property in Howick for six years. She has also worked with share block properties at Mbona Private Nature Reserve near Howick, as well as sectional title complexes along the South Coast.

With a career built on experience, entrepreneurship, resilience and a genuine passion for people and property, she is committed to providing professional, honest and dedicated service to every client.

Her motto is simple: “Never give up! Always look up and go forward!”
